Happy Sunday, friends!
Last weekend, I had the absolute honor of shooting Amanda and Colt’s dream beach wedding! It was seriously stunning from the location down to the decor. I couldn’t not show it off so, I want to take you through the entire wedding day with me! Let’s go!
Everyone, give a warm welcome to Amanda and Colt!
Amanda and Colt gathered with forty of their closest friends and family to celebrate their marriage on the beautiful shore of Ocean Isles, North Carolina. Colt proposed to Amanda pre-pandemic and as they wanted a wedding in Mexico, COVID-19 had other plans. They postponed their nuptials by a few months and gathered their friends and family at the absolute perfect AirBnB off the East Coast.
It was evident how much love that surrounded their wedding day. Amanda and Colt had so many people outpouring love and it was such a treasure to witness. One of my favorite memories during the entire day was during the toasts. Amanda’s brother was not able to be at her wedding as he is currently serving our country in the military. But, he recorded a message for her that played through the speakers during toasts. She began to cry as she listened to her brother talk about how much love he had for her and how he was so happy she found her forever person. I, myself, got a little teary eyed behind the camera, too. Not only that! They made a cardboard cut out of him to dance with during the reception. Little details like that left a stamp that will forever be on that day!
When I snuck Amanda and Colt out to the beach for sunset pictures you could feel how relaxed they were. Sometimes, during a reception the bride and groom are rushed leaving them feeling anxious and hesitant. Not with Amanda and Colt. It was as they released a deep breathe of air and leaned into the fun of the day. I didn’t even have to prompt them to kiss, laugh, or play because they were doing it organically. Below is one of my favorite pictures from the gallery. It is of Amanda twirling around in her wedding dress with the tiniest bit of dirty mud on the hem of the dress. This singular image gives me hope and offers grace to be messy. It reminds me that life’s most beautiful moments can be found in messes that certain seasons of life can hold.
Now…the reception!!! Their reception was the hot spot of the entire beach that night. We had people next door so jealous of the party that everyone invited them over to dance and celebrate! The entire vibe was just so relaxed, inclusive, and fun. The AirBnB next to us was celebrating a birthday and they would come outside on to their porch and would waive to us while we were dancing. Everyone invited them as well and they came over to party, too! It was such a special and beautiful moment to see two sets of families come together to celebrate each other.
After my job was done capturing Amanda and Colt’s beautiful day, I decided to take a small walk on the beach. I was tired, dirty, and my feet hurt, but I knew my soul needed that alone time to process what I just saw. It was incredibly calming to be able to walk the beach under the moon. I thought the entire time how blessed I am that this is my job. I get to help capture the highlights of peoples live’s and it fills my cup every time!
I love celebrating love and I am so thankful for the joy is brings to my soul!
