Wedding Tip: Planning Your Boho Wedding

Happy First Week of June!

What a week it has been! I have been busy with shoots, editing, and I am soaking it all in. I also have been on the go with traveling to different wedding venues, downtown cities, and even a gorgeous open field that I came upon one Friday afternoon. But, as I was shooting a wedding last week I had a thought while inside the venue: “This spot would be perfect for a bohemian wedding!” So, it got me to thinking that I should help any of you who are wanting a boho themed wedding. Let’s get started, shall we?

Wedding Tip: Planning Your Boho Wedding

Let’s be real, planning a wedding is never easy. When I ask former brides what the most difficult part of their wedding planning process is, the most common answer I get is, “the beginning”. So, I want to help break down the beginning, middle, and end of the wedding planning process for you while giving you all the fun boho tips.

Beginning:

To start off, we will be thinking about style. When it comes to the popular boho theme, there are multiple ways you can style that one theme. You could go the “Boho-Chic” route that adds a touch of elegance. Or you could do more of a “Boho-Farmhouse” which would include more DIY’s. Whichever style you choose, my biggest piece of advice is to create a style board on Pinterest. This will help you plan cohesively through your journey. It also creates a foundation for your wedding. Middle:

Now that you have your foundation, it’s time to think about the everything that will build on top of that…aka: your vendors! This is where a lot of your wedding planning gets fun because you will start to see your wedding come to life! Going boho means that you want to think out-of-the-box! That could look like adding colorful cheesecloth to your reception tables, stainglassed goblets for guests to use, a fun photobooth, and even a fun activity (cigar rollers, lawn games, etc.) The word “boho” is a trend, but when it comes down to it, it means for you and your spouse to lean more casual than formal. When booking vendors, maybe ask them what they have to offer when you’re planning your boho theme. Have them give you their idea and vision and if you feel it is a match, go for it!

End:

We have built your foundation and built upon it. Now, it is time to go over any last minute details to finish! One wedding trend I think I will never grow tired of is, “something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue”. If you are wanting to add this touch to your boho wedding then, hit up your local thrift shop for your “something old” and “something borrowed”. You could go for a unique MOH dress or even a vintage pin to wear. Below is a photo where the bride personalized her perfume bottle and I think that could be such a fun “something new” to add to your day, too! With this trend, the sky’s the limit!
