Hi friends!
What a weekend it has been! Yesterday, I had the pleasure of spending the day with Kirstin + Trevor shooting their wedding day! It was honestly such a refreshing day and the fun doesn’t stop there! I am off again today for wedding number two. I get such an adrenaline rush from double wedding weekends- it is insane!
Just because I have a double wedding weekend doesn’t mean I don’t have the time to write a fun lil’ blog for you! Today’s blog is a topic I have been scheming for a while now, too! This topic is strictly an opinion topic so, keep that in mind when reading!
Today, I want to discuss the Era of the Short Wedding Dress! For many women, the thought of finding their dream wedding dress includes images of grand ball gowns and flowing cathedral veils. Yet, for other women that image includes elegant tea-length dresses or even dresses that are shorter! But, is this style overlooked by appearing outdated?
Short wedding dresses are actually more modern and trendsetting than you may think! As modern fashion evolves it seems to be tracing influence from former fashion statements. Flip through any magazine today and you will see a resemblance to early 2000 statement fashion trends. This includes crop tops, lowrise jeans, and a heavy emphasis on vintage pieces. How does this translate to wedding fashion?
If you take a look at the greats such as Oscar De La Renta, Delphine Manivet, and Monique Lhuillier, you will notice that they reinvent short wedding dresses year after year. This could be due to the revolving door that fashion seems to loop around inside or because short wedding dresses deserve the same spotlight as other wedding dresses. Personally, I think a short wedding dress can look just as stylish or classy compared to a ball gown style dress. Depending on the person, style, fabric, and more, short wedding dresses can make just as much a statement in the wedding fashion world.
Does this mean we are living in the Era of Short Wedding Dresses? I believe so!
If you look at fashion trends over the last decade, you will see a rise in popularity within peronsal style. While trends will never die, I feel as if individuals are unapologetically wearing what they want to! Due to this confidence, people are moving forward to wedding dresses that fit their personal style and wedding theme!
I was scrolling through Instagram the other day and came across a post where a photographer shot a styled shoot in the city. The model was wearing a stunning short satin white dress and I immediately fell in love with the vibe! It suited the style of the shoot so well and didn’t feel forced. The dress was a statement that carried elegance and grace through the photos. I believe that if a person feels comfortable wearing a shorter dress, that will come across in photos too!
I think what I am trying to say is everyone’s fashion choices are different. Fashion is all about what makes you feel like you! If you feel forced to wear a certain wedding dress style, you may not feel as confident and comfortable! You deserve to wear whatever makes you feel like the queen you are: Whether that is a short dress, long dress, suit, or more!
You deserve a dress that is perfect for you. Period!
