What Should You Pack For Your Elopement?

Congratulations, you’re engaged!

Now is the best time to start planning which type of wedding you want, building out your guest lists, and contacting all your vendors! But, if you are looking to elope then your checklist may look a little different. Eloping is a great way to enjoy an intimate time with your partner, but it is very important to be sure you are prepared for the big celebration! I have done my research and have gathered some of the most important things to pack for your elopement.

Here’s a quick guide to all the words you need to know to help you reach your “I do”!

Comfortable Clothing — If you are planning to hike or travel it is essential to both wear and pack comfortable clothing so you are cozy before the elopement activities.

Letters — If you are wanting to read letters from family and friends before the ceremony, be sure to pack your letters in a safe, water-proof place.

Marriage License — Listen, it sounds like a no-brainer, but I want to remind everyone to have their marriage license on the day of their ceremony and an officiant to sign it!

Personal Belongings — Your personal belongings can range from toiletries to travel gear! This will be its own checklist that includes anything you need to make the day run smoothly.

Snacks – Because food.

Bug Spray/Sunscreen – This goes out to all my couples who are eloping outside. It is CRUCIAL to have bug spray and/or sunscreen on your wedding day so you don’t end up eaten alive or in photos with a patchy sunburn!

Wedding Rings — Your wedding rings will need to stay inside their ring box and tucked away somewhere safe for the ceremony.

Wedding Photographer — This is optional depending on a couples preference and budget! A photographer is a great way to create forever memories that you and your partner can look back at forever! If you are looking for an elopement wedding photographer, then you are in the right place!

Vows — Similar to any letters, you will want to keep your vows in a safe, water-proof place.

Any Traditional Items — If you are wanting to perform any traditional wedding practices, be sure you pack any items you may need!

Rain Plan — A rain plan is just what it sounds like. It is the backup plan in case of rain and inclement weather.

Champagne — It’s time to pop the bubbly! After you say “I do” it can be fun to pop a bottle of champagne (or sparkling grape juice) to celebrate!

Charger Pack — A charger pack will come in handy for anything you have after a long hike or if your elopement involves travel time.

Bathroom Supplies — If you are planning to elope in the mountains or outdoors without a bathroom, it will be smart to bring a roll or two for yourself!
