Your 2022 Wedding Vendor Booking Guide

Merry Christmas, everyone!

I hope that you all had the merriest Christmas full of cheer, great conversation, and joy!

It’s hard to believe that we have Christmas behind us! I love this time of year because not only do we have Christmas, but also my birthday and New Year’s Eve! And speaking of New Years, I wanted to take today to touch on a subject that I believe is very important for this time of year:

Booking your 2022 Wedding Vendors!

It is fairly common that when you get engaged your friends and family start asking you multiple questions including, “have you picked a day yet?”, “what dress styles are you looking at?”, and “which wedding venue are you thinking of?” I think I can speak on behalf of all brides-to-be that this can be overwhelming! Your engagement season is something to relish in and not rush!

While I am going to encourage you to book your wedding vendors early, I do not want you to feel pressured into any decision! That is why I have created a small guide for all my recently engaged brides out there. Let’s get started, shall we?

Section One: Why Now Is The Time To Book

In 2022 there will be more weddings held since the year 1980. The term that the industry uses for this is, “The Wedding Boom.” There is an estimated 2.6 millions weddings happening in just one year alone. The influx in weddings comes as a direct result from Covid-19. According to Statista, 82% of weddings were postponed in 2020. These postponed weddings are now taking in place which means if you are recently engaged, now is your time to book.

You wedding vendors are your biggest cheerleaders! We want your to able able to choose wisely and get exactly what you want without fear that we are already booked for your date. That is why I want to strongly suggest to start your search on your wedding vendors! Look through their reviews, photos, and talk to other other former brides. Once you have made your list it will be time to start booking!

Section Two: How To Book Your Vendors

Earlier I mentioned that your engagement season should be one for you to relish in and I mean that whole heartily! The time from when your partner asks the big question to your wedding day is time that should never feel rushed or anxiety-ridden. So, I have composed a short list of items to look for from any potential wedding vendors to ensure that your big day will run smoothly.

1. Ask for Covid policies on cancellations/postponements.

2. Get contracts from EVERY vendor. (Even if it is a friend of yours!!)

3. If a wedding vendor is already booked on your day, ask for a list of vendors they can refer you to.

By keeping these three things in mind you will be able to understand what will happen to any monies if there were to be a cancellation due to Covid, have contracts so everyone is on the same page of what is agreed upon on your wedding day, and other vendors you can book if your first choice is already booked out.

Section Three: Do Your Research

If there is anything I want you to take away from this guide it is this: Do not feel rushed to book just anyone due to The Wedding Boom. Now is the time to do your research about wedding venues, florists and the minimums, photographers and their packages, and much more. Doing this type of research will ensure that there is nothing hidden from your or anything you could look over. This can be done by simply shooting over an email to your potential vendors asking for their information and looking at a contract before your consultation. Your contract will be specialized to your needs, but it can be beneficial to look over it prior to know how they operate!

If you are recently engaged, I hope that this guide helps better prepare you for your approaching wedding day! If you have any additional questions or need help with booking your vendors, shoot me an email! I know that I am just a photographer, but like I mentioned- your vendors are your biggest cheerleaders and we want to see you succeed! So, please reach out at any time!

Have a great week and I will see you in the New Year!
