Happy Sunday, friends!
If you have been following my stories on Instagram, then you know that I shot one of the most beautiful proposals I have had the honor of shooting. When I sat in my car after it was over I thought, “I have to write a blog about this.” So, from now on this blog is a dedicated stan account for Nikki and Kevin! I can’t wait to share more about their story and the photos to match.
Let’s get into it!
Let’s start from the start! Kevin’s sister reached out to me a few months before the proposal and briefed me on the big plan. While she was going through the plan I couldn’t help but think how honored I was to be a part of it!! She let me know that Kevin and Nikki have been married for 19 years, Kevin wanted to re-propose, and planned to have a vow renewal next year for their 20th anniversary! When they got married they were super young and it was just their families so, Nikki has always wanted to have the big wedding experience and Kevin wanted to give it to her now!
We decided to name this an “anniversary” session that would actually tun into a proposal! But, the catch was that Nikki didnt even know we were doing any type of session!! Kevin met up with me in our designated “meet-up spot” and Nikki was dropped off by her sister in law. Nikki thought they were going out for a nice dinner and had no idea that this was planned. When she realized what was going on you could tell she was shocked! She was both excited and surprised which made her super giddy! They said they had never taken professional photos like this together, but they were naturals in front of my camera! Like, can we can about these photos?!
We spent the first half of the session walking around Rainbow Row and down some beautiful Charleston alleyways and it was stunning! I had gotten there earlier in the day and had mapped out our route that would take us to the proposal spot where their friends and family were waiting!!
We walked down a cobblestone alleyway (which turned out to be some of my favorite photos) to the spot where Kevin was going to be propose! I gave them a prompt where Kevin would run up to and hug her from behind, but he was secretly on his knee and their friends and family came out of their hiding spot! Nikki was so surprised and happy tears started flowing once she realized what was happening.
It was such a precious moment to be a part of and something I will never forget!
After everyone had time to celebrate, I was able to venture around and take photos of the couple!
I had a BLAST getting to be a part of this big moment in both Nikki and Kevin’s life! I want to thank them both for trusting me with such a beautiful moment!
