Hi, friends!
Can you feel that in the air?
It feels like LOVE! With Valentine’s Day being tomorrow, I couldn’t not highlight one of the sweetest weddings I had the special opportunity of shooting! I walk through all details from their engagement session to their wedding day. This one is such a precious story so, let’s get into it!
Everyone, meet Laura + Aaron!
Laura + Aaron are the epitome of an adventure couple! We began our journey at their engagement session which was shot in the Blue Ridge Mountains. If you have never been, it is an absolute dream to visit during the Fall. The colors on the trees are crisp and warm, the mountains roll on for miles, and the smokey’s in the distance are the cherry on top. I was stoked to know that they chose this spot for their engagement photos.
Laura + Aaron rented an Air-Bnb for the weekend and we all explored around the woods, a gorgeous river next to the woods, and even found a huge waterfall. After, we drove around the town and found a stunning mountains-cape where we shot more photos. This session was honestly so refreshing because these two were so chill and the best adventurers!
Laura + Aaron decided to have a small wedding with just 30 of their closest friends and family in their back yard. Laura rented an Air-Bnb on the lake where she got ready the day of her wedding. We shared such a sweet and slow morning with her talking about her new marriage and life! Laura’s parents were at the Air-Bnb with everyone and I absolutely cherished that time because it felt so special. It was one of those “time stand still” moments which I can’t get enough of!
The best moment of the day, hands down, was when Laura had texted me a few days before her wedding saying that she just found out she was pregnant!! She said she wanted to surprise Aaron on the day of their wedding with the news! She wanted this to be a private moment and for none of their family to know yet. She hid the test in a gift bag and gave it to Aaron during their sunset photos and his reaction was beyond perfect! It felt so special and sacred being a part of this moment and I was honored to capture these memories for them.
After the ceremony, we explored and ran around during sunset! We went into their reception and I loved that this was truly a family backyard party. No dancing, no traditions, just friends sitting around a campfire on a chilly November night just enjoying these sweet moments of celebration. The food was potluck style and was delicious!! They cut their wedding cake, but Laura’s mother had made a dozen different cakes and pies and desserts and it was so sweet. It felt like the perfect celebration of love shared between the people that meant most to them.
Laura asked me to take a photo of her and Aaron wrapped up in her grandfathers blanket at the end of the night and this was the perfect way to end their day. everything about this day felt intentional, authentic, relaxed, and slow. I was honored to be a small part in their big love.
I can’t thank them enough for allowing me to be a part of this day!
